About
MiddleDrag unlocks middle-click on your Mac trackpad, so you can stop using awkward key combinations. It offers native three-finger gestures for middle-click and middle-drag. It is free and open source, and you can install it with Homebrew (brew install --cask middledrag) or MacPorts (sudo port install middledrag).
Middle-click supports workflows across macOS. In CAD and 3D modeling tools such as Fusion 360, Blender, OnShape, FreeCAD, and SketchUp, you can pan and orbit without carrying a mouse. In your browser, you can open links in background tabs, close tabs instantly, and auto-scroll long pages with a simple three-finger tap. For coding and terminal work, you can paste selection in Terminal (Linux style) and use VS Code multi-cursor features.
Like all gesture apps on macOS, MiddleDrag needs Accessibility permissions to see your trackpad touches. You can grant them under System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility. MiddleDrag requires macOS 15 Sequoia or later. A manual installer is available on GitHub Releases.
