About
Mister Plimsoll is a small menu bar utility for macOS that monitors whether the storage volumes you choose are running out of room. Set a threshold for each drive, whether internal, external, or Time Machine, and it will alert you before you run out of space. It requires macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later and runs on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
Alerts can be sent as on-screen floating windows, notifications, email, iMessage, or Pushover messages. You can also enter a standard webhook for a service like Zapier or Slack, or send JSON data to your own endpoint. Each volume can have its own alert levels, a separate critical threshold can be set for all drives, and daily caps limit how many times you're reminded about a single volume.
The menu bar dropdown shows live status for every monitored drive, and an optional Dock icon is available if you want it. Mister Plimsoll is free, does not track you, and does not require an account. To send email alerts, you may need an app-specific password from your email provider.
