Modern CSV is a CSV file editor and viewer available for Mac, as well as Windows and Linux. It lets you move columns, duplicate rows, and split cells, and most commands can operate on multiple rows, columns, or cells at once. Most commands have keyboard shortcuts, and you can create your own. Find/Replace can highlight matches as you type or preview replacements, double-clicking a column label sorts it, and you can filter rows and hide any rows or columns you choose.

Modern CSV runs entirely on your device, so your data stays local and is never sent to the cloud. Its read-only mode loads large files quickly with a memory footprint that is a fraction of the file size, and it can load up to 11 times faster than Excel. The app also supports Apple Silicon (M1/M2) natively.

For analysis, Modern CSV offers statistics such as mean and median for numeric columns, column analysis for empty cells and data types, a unique values browser with a histogram, and pivot tables for grouping and summarizing data. It also supports multiple delimiters, character encodings, and JSON and XML import and export.
