About
Mongrel is a database workbench for 30+ engines that brings terminals, FTP/FTPS/SFTP file transfer, Docker, Kubernetes, an API client, and opt-in AI into one desktop workspace. It is built by VisorCraft, the maintainers of MongrelDB, and is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux with a free trial.
Mongrel offers engine-specific query and administration workflows within a shared connection list, results workspace, and inspector. Features include a visual query builder for MySQL and MariaDB, a schema browser with foreign-key drill-down, saved queries and snippets, and a data dictionary. EXPLAIN, profiling, and schema drift tools sit beside the queries and schemas they describe.
Terminals, file transfer, containers, Kubernetes, and API calls live in the same app as your queries, so you can follow a problem across systems. AI is disabled until you configure it, and generated queries require review. Connection profiles can be versioned in Git as an opt-in feature.
