About
Mountain Duck is a Mac app that mounts server and cloud storage as a disk in Finder, so remote files can be opened with any application and used like files on a local volume. Its Integrated Connect mode works with the macOS File Provider API, and Smart Synchronization lets you view all files on your remote storage, with files syncing to your disk when opened for offline use. You can also choose folders to always keep offline, while other files are downloaded and cached on demand. Changes upload in the background once a connection is available, and status icons show sync progress.
Mountain Duck runs in the macOS status bar, showing sync progress, file history, and connection management. Sync and share options are available from the Finder context menu, and you can create links with auto-expiring shares for supported services. Search uses Spotlight, and the Activity panel lets you track and cancel running sync operations. For teams, it supports file locking for Microsoft Office documents, and it offers versioning and transparent client-side encryption through Cryptomator vaults. It connects to protocols and services including FTP, SFTP, WebDAV, SMB, S3, OpenStack Swift, Google Cloud Storage, Azure, Backblaze B2, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, and Box.
A trial version is available, and a registration key can be purchased or the app can be bought from the Mac App Store. Installation does not require admin privileges.
