Mozilla Thunderbird ESR is the Extended Support Release channel of Thunderbird Desktop, which is officially maintained and distributed by Thunderbird. It is intended for users who want all available new features on an annual basis, along with stability and security fixes on a monthly basis.

The Thunderbird download page lists a macOS option in the .dmg format. The site also offers other channels for comparison: Release, which is recommended and delivers new features and bug fixes monthly; Beta, where stabilization occurs; and Daily, where new features are developed and which is expected to be the least stable.

The site notes that Thunderbird ESR may not work with all add-ons. Language options are also available on the download page.
