About
Mudlet is a platform for playing and enhancing pure-text, multiplayer games, primarily MUDs. It runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux-based systems, and the site notes it also works on Chromebooks and Raspberry Pi. Scripts made on one computer work on another, and profiles can be shared via Dropbox. The site describes Mudlet as fast and lightweight, with a custom text display and Lua-powered scripting system.
Mudlet's user interface can be modified, from the space within the window to the look and feel of the client. Its feature list includes a fully customizable user interface, multiple simultaneous games, a comprehensive mapping system with 2D and 3D mapper views and built-in pathfinding, Lua scripting and API, an in-application script editor, and import/export of profile data. It also supports various MUD protocols, secure connections, an in-app IRC client, and Discord Rich-Presence. Mudlet includes pre-configured settings for more than 20 MUDs and can play many others.
Mudlet is completely free to download, modify, and extend, and it is open source. The site says its scripting design is simple, intuitive, and powerful, and that help is available through the documentation on the Mudlet Wiki and a 400-600 person Discord channel. The site also notes that Mudlet is accessible for visually impaired players.
