Nani is an AI translation tool that also helps with writing, proofreading, and communicating across languages. On Mac, you can select text in any app, press a shortcut, and translate or proofread it without leaving that app. The desktop app supports macOS 14 or later on Apple Silicon.

Nani explains nuance and alternative wording as it translates, and when it makes sense, it shows several versions, such as casual or more formal, so you can choose the one that fits. You can guide a translation with a hint typed after @, like "in a work email," and pick a style for the situation. You can also paste or drag in an image to translate it. On Mac, you can drop an image onto the app icon.

Nani can also proofread and polish text for typos, grammar, and phrasing, draft replies to messages you receive, and back-translate results to check whether the meaning matches your intent. Translation data and history are stored on your device.
