About

Nativ is an open source Mac app for running AI models locally on Apple Silicon (M1 and later). It requires no accounts, subscriptions, or cloud service. Its curated library includes open models from Z.ai, Google, Cohere, and Liquid AI, and it recommends a model suited to your hardware. Chat offers streaming responses, markdown, code highlighting, and image input, with per-message performance metrics. Telemetry shows live tokens per second, memory pressure, thermal state, and time-to-first-token.

Nativ is built on MLX-VLM and tuned for M-series unified memory and Metal. It supports language, vision, video, code, and audio tasks, including captioning images, summarizing video, autocompleting code, and transcribing or generating speech. Nativ also works as a local endpoint for coding agents such as Pi, Codex, Claude Code, Hermes, and OpenCode.

Nativ is MIT licensed and free, with its full desktop app source available to read, fork, or contribute to.
