About
Nook is a minimal browser for Mac with a single row of tabs, an address bar, and four buttons. It blocks ads and trackers before they download, checking each request against Ghostery's filter lists, so pages load lighter and sooner. Reading mode shows an article alone in one readable column without sidebars or sign-up boxes, and focus mode hides the tabs and toolbar so the page fills the whole window, with ⌘L and Esc to bring the controls back.
Bookmarks, history, and downloads are all reachable from one menu button. Bookmarks are stored in a plain JSON file you can back up or read, history stays in memory only and clears when you quit, and cookies, cache, and site data are deleted every time Nook quits. Nook runs on Chromium, so pages render as they do in Chrome, though DRM-protected streaming services such as Netflix won't play. It has no account, sync, telemetry, or crash reporting, runs each page in Chromium's sandbox, and is signed and notarized by Apple. It is free and runs natively on Apple silicon and Intel Macs with macOS 13 or later.
