About
Notebooks for Mac is a writing app and text and Markdown editor that also serves as a personal wiki and Zettelkasten, a file organizer, a task manager, and a PDF and eBook creator. You can write in plain text, Markdown, or formatted text, link notes together, compile documents, work with PDFs, and embed media, all within a calm interface. It supports multiple windows, tabs, and extensive keyboard shortcuts for a keyboard-driven workflow.
Your documents are stored in regular folders, such as iCloud Drive, Dropbox, or any location you choose, and you can access them directly in Finder at any time. The app integrates with macOS through drag and drop across apps, text recognition, and system services, and it uses Spotlight for full-text search, Contexts, Favorites, and Recently Modified items.
Notebooks requires macOS 10.15 or later, and Spotlight search should be enabled on the drive holding your documents for the best experience. A trial is available to download, and the app can be purchased directly from the developer or through the Mac App Store.
