Octavo

About

Octavo is a Mac app for arranging PDF pages for printing. It handles booklets with automatic page ordering, lays out mini zines from a single sheet (including 8-page zines and concertina folds), and arranges business cards or labels on standard sheet sizes using adjustable rows, columns, and gutters. Printer's marks such as crop, fold, and registration marks can be added, and pages can be numbered for easier assembly. A live preview shows how the imposed pages will look before printing.

Octavo also cleans up messy PDFs by fixing mismatched page sizes, straightening skewed scans, and repositioning pages precisely. Filters for monochrome, sharpening, and noise reduction are available. The app integrates with the macOS printing system, lets you set duplex options, preview your printer's non-printable margins, and manage trays and paper stock.

Octavo is sold as a one-off lifetime unlock with no subscription. It is made by the indie studio Double & Thrice, which says it does not take venture capital or collect user data.
