About
Open Design is a free, open-source (Apache-2.0) desktop app that runs on macOS 11 or newer, on both Apple Silicon and Intel. You can start with a local coding agent already on your computer, such as Claude Code or Codex, or connect your own API key. Describe the screens you want, choose a design system, and your agent writes a working HTML prototype that you can preview live.
You can pick from 150+ open-source design systems or create your own from a website, a GitHub repo, or a Figma file. Editing continues after generation: move and resize elements, change text and color, and adjust spacing and alignment without regenerating. When the prototype is ready, you can export it as HTML or PDF.
To get feedback, share a prototype to a team workspace, where teammates click through the screens and comment directly on the design. Those comments can be sent back to your agent as a single revision task, and the agent updates the files. No coding knowledge is required: describe what you want, then review and refine the result.
