About
Open Island sits in your Mac's notch (or top bar) and gives you a real-time control surface for your AI coding agents. It shows session status, lets you approve permission requests, and jumps you back to the right terminal instantly. It runs natively on macOS with SwiftUI and AppKit, not as an Electron wrapper. It is local-first, with no server, no telemetry, and no account required.
Open Island supports 15 agents, including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, and OpenCode, plus more than 15 terminals and IDEs, such as Terminal.app, Ghostty, iTerm2, WezTerm, tmux, VS Code, and the JetBrains IDEs. Its multi-terminal support lets you jump back to the exact terminal or IDE session in one click.
Open Island is open source under GPL v3, so you can fork it, modify it, or ship your own version. It is presented as a free, open-source alternative to a paid closed-source app for monitoring coding agents.
