About
OpenPLC Editor is an IDE for creating programs for the OpenPLC Runtime. It is distributed as a desktop application for macOS, Windows, and Linux, with builds for both x64 and ARM64 architectures. macOS builds are signed and notarized.
The project is open source and licensed under GPLv3. Its source code is hosted on GitHub, where the repository includes a readme, contributing guidelines, and a Contributor License Agreement that contributors must agree to on pull requests. Documentation is available on the project's wiki, and the current state of the project and its issues can be viewed on the project management and issues pages.
To run a preview version, you can clone the repository and install dependencies with npm, which requires Node.js version 22 or higher but below 24, along with Git and network access. Running `npm run dev` starts the development script. The project also includes unit tests (Jest) and end-to-end tests (Playwright).
