About
OpenRefine is a free, open source tool for working with messy data. You can clean it, transform it from one format into another, and extend it with web services and external data. Its goal is to make data accessible to everyone through an open source tool and a diverse, supportive community.
OpenRefine includes faceting, which lets you drill through large datasets and apply operations to filtered views. Clustering helps fix inconsistencies by merging similar values using heuristics. Reconciliation matches your dataset against external databases through reconciliation services. Infinite undo/redo lets you return to any previous state and replay your operation history on a new version of the data. Your data is cleaned on your own machine rather than in a cloud service.
OpenRefine can also contribute to Wikidata, the free knowledge base anyone can edit, and to other Wikibase instances. Additional features are described in the project's documentation.
