About
OpenSuperWhisper is a macOS application that provides real-time audio transcription using the Whisper model. It offers a way to record and transcribe audio with customizable settings and keyboard shortcuts. It includes two transcription engines, Whisper and Parakeet, and you can download models directly from the app. The app requires macOS on Apple Silicon (ARM64).
You can start and stop recording with global keyboard shortcuts, either a key combination or a single modifier key such as Left ⌘, Right ⌥, or Fn. You can also bind the middle or an extra (thumb) mouse button to start and stop recording, or use hold-to-record mode, which records while you hold the shortcut, modifier key, or mouse button. Microphone selection from the menu bar supports built-in, external, Bluetooth, and iPhone (Apple Continuity) microphones. The app supports multiple languages with auto-detection and includes Asian language autocorrect.
Audio files can be dragged and dropped into the app for transcription, with queue processing. The app can be installed with Homebrew or downloaded from the GitHub releases page, and its source code is available under the MIT License.
