About
Outline is a Mac app for collecting, writing, brainstorming, and organizing notes. You can start typing anywhere on a page and move your notes around as you would with pen and paper. Its editing tools help you create polished documents similar to a traditional word processor, and notes can be organized in a hierarchical notebook structure with a customizable order. Content types include text notes, to-do lists, tables, PDFs, images, photos, attachments, and drawings.
Outline includes several security features. You can protect individual sections with AES-256 encryption, set an automatic passcode lock, or use Touch ID. Files are stored locally, and the app is not tied to a specific cloud. A built-in backup function can restore old fragments of information, even if they were deleted long ago. You can also sync with a cloud storage service of your choice, such as Dropbox, Box, iCloud, OneDrive, WebDAV, or SharePoint.
Finding and connecting your notes is handled through inter, intra, and wiki links, along with tags and flexible search. Outline also works with local OneNote notebooks on Mac, iPad, and iPhone, and it offers iOS apps for iPad and iPhone so your data is available on the go.
