The Past for iChat is a simple macOS app that lets you view iChat chat log files. Since the newer Messages app in macOS Big Sur can no longer open older .ichat or .chat files written by the original iChat application, this app fills that gap and can display a wide range of iChat chat logs. You can find your chat logs by searching for them in Finder.
The app requires macOS Big Sur or later and is written entirely in SwiftUI. It is available on the Mac App Store, and the developers invite users who are unsure whether their files are supported to get in touch. Help is available on the app's support page.
The developers credit @martinlexow for help making the chat bubbles look nicer, and note that the app uses the IGIdenticon package to generate icons.
