About
Permute 4 is a media converter for macOS that works with video, audio, images, PDFs and text. It supports over 100 formats, and its drag-and-drop queue is designed for quick conversions, with a native Mac experience throughout.
Beyond conversion, Permute lets you convert between formats such as MP4, HEVC, ProRes, MP3, FLAC, HEIC, AVIF and WebP. You can trim, crop, resize, rotate and flip files individually or in bulk, add subtitles, adjust speed and volume, and set a target output file size. It can also combine or split files, export individual audio, video or subtitle tracks without re-encoding, and transcribe audio into text or SRT subtitles using on-device AI.
Permute 4 requires macOS 26 and Apple Silicon. It is available as a permanent license for $14.99 (USD, excluding VAT/sales tax) directly from the developer, through the Mac App Store, or via a Setapp subscription. A Downie 4 and Permute 4 bundle is also offered at $26.99. Users on macOS 11–15 or Intel Macs can buy Permute 3, which includes a free upgrade to Permute 4 when they move to macOS 26 or later.
