About
Petal is an open source pair programming app for Mac with low-latency, high-resolution screensharing and remote control. Shared windows appear as real windows on your desktop that you can move and resize, not tiles in a grid. Click into any shared window to type, scroll and click as if it were yours.
Several users can share their windows at the same time, and labeled user cursors appear on all shared windows. Persistent rooms, such as eng-sync, let people click once to get in, with no links to send and nothing to schedule.
You can choose how Petal runs. Petal Cloud requires zero config and uses LiveKit video infrastructure. Self-hosting uses one docker-compose setup and a LiveKit server you run, so traffic stays yours. You can also fork and build the app yourself from the open source code on GitHub. Petal is also available for Windows, and Linux support is coming next.
