About
Petrichor is a native music player for macOS that plays almost any format and organizes your library based on track metadata. You can browse by Artists, Album Artists, Composers, Genres, Decades, or Years, and its Discover section surfaces your own music through Featured, Recently Played, and Most Loved & Played carousels, plus a Fresh Music list of tracks you have never played. It supports over 40 formats, including MP3, AAC, ALAC, FLAC, and WAV, and reads each file's details such as bit depth, sample rate, and codec directly from the file.
Petrichor also includes Internet Radio, where you can browse stations or add your own by URL, and it offers a multi-band equalizer, presets, stereo widening, and a preamp. Immersive mode shows full-window now-playing artwork with the queue and lyrics, and the Mini Player floats above other windows so music keeps playing while you work.
Petrichor is sandboxed and notarized by Apple, has no analytics, and never changes your audio files or folders. Online extras such as artist images, lyrics, and Scrobbling are opt-in and off by default. It is free and open source, runs on macOS 14 or later, and is universal for Apple Silicon and Intel.
