About
Phoenix Code is a visual editor for websites, web apps, and Markdown. Its Design Mode lets you edit text, style fonts and colors with the Styles Bar, rearrange elements, and try different screen sizes inside the preview, while your code updates as you go. The Layers Panel shows your page as a tree, where you can select elements, edit their tags, classes, attributes, and styles, insert or duplicate elements, and drag rows to reorder them. The Markdown editor lets you create documents with images, tables, code blocks, and diagrams, and switch between visual editing and raw Markdown text.
Phoenix Code also includes AI features. Phoenix Pro is powered by Claude Code and can work with visual and runtime context from the rendered page, not just source code. You can use the built-in Claude Code, or bring your own Claude Code or Codex CLI, so you can use your existing Claude or ChatGPT subscription. The site states that your code stays local. Phoenix Pro is offered with a 7-day free trial.
For everyday coding, the Community Edition is free and includes live preview as you type, code intelligence for languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, PHP, JSON, HTML, and CSS, project-wide search, simplified Git (stage, commit, and sync), a built-in terminal, and extensions and themes. The site describes Phoenix Code as the official successor to Adobe's Brackets.
