About
Photo Transfer via USB copies photos and videos from an iPhone or iPad to a Mac over a cable, with nothing to install on the phone and no iCloud or Photos library involved. Files land as plain files in a folder you choose, such as a folder on the Mac, an external drive, or a NAS, and can be grouped by date, event, or trip. Before anything is copied, you can review the planned folders with counts, sizes, and thumbnails, uncheck items, rename folders, and build folder names from configurable blocks.
Each copy is verified with SHA-256 before it receives its final name, and a report shows what was transferred and what was not. Related files such as Live Photo pairs and edits are kept together in one folder, and every transfer is recorded in a history you can filter. Transfers resume after the cable is unplugged and reconnected, and the app can skip files already present in the destination. The device is opened read only, so nothing is deleted, edited, or written on the phone.
The app is free for 50 snapshots a day and requires macOS 15 or later. A one-time purchase of $14.99 removes the daily limit and adds ZIP packaging and HEIC-to-JPEG or HEVC-to-H.264 conversion, and it is available on the Mac App Store or directly from the website.
What's new
All release notesNEW: TRANSFER HISTORY Every transfer is now kept on the Mac. Open History › Transfer History (or the button on the summary) to see what landed where, file by file: which copies are on the Mac, which were already there, which failed and why, whether a Live Photo came over whole. Every column filters like a spreadsheet, a place opens on a map, and a click on a saved name shows the file in Finder, even weeks later. Nothing leaves the Mac: the map is drawn by Apple Maps only when you open it. NEW: A PREFIX FOR FILE NAMES In «How to transfer», choose what goes in front of every file name: nothing, the phone's name, or a word of your own. Two phones' IMG_0001 stop colliding, and a batch can carry its own mark. FIXED Live Photos now arrive whole. The phone lists the video of a Live Photo and a photo's edit file separately from the still, and the app could miss them. Each Live Photo also shows once in a folder card, not as two tiles. Two phones into one folder: with conversion to JPEG on, a photo from the second phone with the same name was taken for one already copied and skipped. It is now written beside the first one. «Only new» switched off really copies everything again, next to what is already there, without touching the old files. «Photos and videos in separate folders» no longer separates a Live Photo from its video or an edit from its original. Videos are converted to H.264 again; the previous build silently kept the original. The report now says when a file stayed as it was. Merged months and years are named by their dates, such as «2026-05 — 2026-06», and the folder for photos without a date has a proper name. Place names are fetched in both Russian and English, so switching the language of names no longer waits for the network. The copies the phone keeps with «Optimize iPhone Storage» on are now called optimized copies, as Apple calls them.
