About
PHTV is a Vietnamese typing app for macOS, written 100% in Swift. It is designed to be fast and private, and it works entirely on your Mac. PHTV is free and open source under the AGPLv3 license, and it supports both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs running macOS 14 or later. You can install it with Homebrew (brew install --cask phtv) or download the DMG from GitHub.
PHTV supports Telex, VNI, and Simple Telex input styles. You can switch between Vietnamese and English with Control + Shift or from the menu bar. For everyday writing, it includes spell checking, Quick Telex, automatic restoration of English words, shortcuts, and customization options for bilingual typists. The PHTV Picker lets you insert emoji, stickers, and GIFs and retrieve text from clipboard history.
PHTV does not send typed content anywhere. Only the GIF picker and update checks require an Internet connection. PHTV needs Accessibility permission to process keystrokes. A separate PHTV Keyboard version for the Mac App Store runs as a macOS input source inside the App Sandbox and does not require Accessibility permission. It includes PHTV Emoji and PHTV Clipboard and is listed as coming soon to the Mac App Store.
