About
Pika is an open-source, native colour picker for macOS, pronounced "pi·kuh" like "picker." It helps you quickly find colours onscreen in the format you need while adhering to accessibility requirements. A magnified loupe shows the exact pixel under your cursor, with contrast and colour names updating live, and you can nudge pixels one at a time with the arrow keys. You can grab a foreground and background pair with ⌥⌘D from any app.
Pika lets you compare colours to confirm WCAG and APCA compliance, including contrast ratio and lightness contrast, along with the text sizes each level is good for. Colour values are editable: click to type or paste, drag or two-finger scroll to scrub, and step with the arrow keys, with everything undoable. You can work in sRGB or Display P3, choose from seven formats (Hex, RGB, HSB, HSL, LAB, OpenGL, and OKLCH), and revisit earlier picks through colour history.
Pika can be shown from anywhere with a global shortcut, and it can be triggered from other apps or scripts using the pika:// URL scheme. It lives in your menu bar or dock and in the Touch Bar, and it requires macOS 14 or newer. You can install it from the App Store or with Homebrew (brew install --cask pika).
