About
Pique is a macOS Quick Look extension for MacAdmins that shows syntax-highlighted previews of configuration files and scripts. Select a file in Finder, press Space, and get a formatted preview without opening a text editor. It supports many formats, including JSON, YAML, mobileconfig/plist, XML, shell, Markdown, PowerShell, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Terraform/HCL, Go, Rust, Ruby, and more. Mobileconfig and plist files get a special rendering with profile metadata, payload details, and formatted key-value pairs. YAML files with embedded SQL in query: values, common in osquery and Fleet configurations, have their SQL syntax highlighted.
Appearance settings let you choose System, Light, or Dark rendering for each format. You can also toggle line numbers, mark the file's final newline, scale text from 85% to 200%, and pick a code font from Default, SF Mono, Menlo, Monaco, or Courier New. Pique requires macOS 26.0 or later. It can be installed from the latest pkg in Releases or with Homebrew using brew install --cask pique. On macOS 26, you must enable Pique under System Settings > Login Items & Extensions > Quick Look Extensions.
If a supported file still shows a plain-text preview after installing or updating, the README suggests renewing the Quick Look cache with qlmanage -r cache, qlmanage -r, and killall Finder. Pique is licensed under the Apache License 2.0.
