About
Pixen is a native pixel art editor for macOS, built for working with low-resolution raster art like the 8-bit sprites found in old-school video games. It offers high zoom levels, animation editing, color palettes, layers with opacities and blend modes, and a range of filters for adjusting colors and post-processing artwork. Tools include Pencil, Eraser, Fill, Line, Rectangle, Ellipse, Magic Wand, Lasso, and more, and you can assign different tools to the left and right mouse buttons.
Pixen supports color palette import and export in several common formats, and it can import animations from animated GIFs, animated PNGs, and sprite sheets. Animations can be exported as animated GIFs, animated PNGs, movies, or sprite sheets. Additional features include a grid and alignment crosshair, custom patterns, a Preview mode for tiling and playback, iCloud sync with Pixen for iOS, Sidecar and Apple Pencil support, JavaScript scripting, and export to PNG, JPEG, GIF, ICO, BMP, TIFF, SVG, and PSD formats.
