About

ProFind provides fast and complete searches of any disk, beneath an elegant and extremely powerful interface. You can combine more than a dozen search criteria, including name, date, size, tags, and file contents, either in plain English or with boolean queries. You can then act on the results with QuickLook, scripts, and Shortcuts. Spotlight is not required.

ProFind can search the text inside files, including PDF, Word, and RTF documents, with optional OCR for scanned files. It can also find photos by their visual content using on-device machine learning (macOS 12 or later). Searches cover invisible folders, packages, and zip and tar archives. Optional disk caching speeds up searches, especially on network disks, and lets you search disks even when they are disconnected.

Results can be customised with configurable columns, relevance ranking, and a large-icon view, and they can be exported to text or CSV. You can save searches, keep a full search history, and set up an optional menu bar icon and a configurable system-wide hot key. ProFind supports Dark Mode and requires macOS 11 or later. A free 14-day trial is available. The free companion ProFind Remote iOS app lets you search your Mac from an iPhone or iPad over an encrypted local network connection.
