About
Proton Meet is a video conferencing tool from the creators of Proton Mail. All calls, screen shares, and chat messages are end-to-end encrypted, so your audio, video, and chats stay private, even from Proton. Proton says that unlike some other video conferencing apps, it does not use your calls to train AI or collect your data. Meetings can be started in seconds with a link, and guests can join without a Proton Account. Proton Meet integrates with Proton Calendar, and you can connect from your browser or from Proton's desktop and mobile apps.
The free plan lets you host one-hour calls with up to 50 participants when you have a Proton Account. For longer meetings, Proton offers paid plans, with calls lasting up to 24 hours and up to 250 participants in a single call. Hosts can blur their background, reduce distracting noises, remove unwanted guests, and lock private meetings. Proton Calendar's appointment scheduler lets you invite others to book meetings.
Proton Meet uses Messaging Layer Security (MLS) and is part of an encrypted suite that includes email, VPN, cloud storage, a password manager, and an AI assistant. Proton states that it is protected by European privacy laws and that it is funded by paid subscriptions and supporters, with the nonprofit Proton Foundation overseeing its privacy-first mission.
