About
PureMac is a free, open-source cleaner for macOS, offered as an alternative to CleanMyMac. It is built natively in SwiftUI and released under the MIT license. It covers cleanup, app management, storage exploration, and system checks, and it includes scheduled auto-cleaning and cleanup of Xcode, Homebrew, and system caches.
PureMac has no subscription and no telemetry. It sends no analytics, crash reports, or usage stats, and it makes no network calls to its developers. Deletion behavior is explicit: app uninstalls, orphan removal, and exact-duplicate removal move items to the Trash, while manual cleanup, app-file removal, orphan removal, duplicate removal, and local snapshot deletion require confirmation before anything is removed. Some operations, such as scheduled auto-clean and Trash emptying, can delete data permanently, and the site advises reviewing selections carefully.
PureMac can be installed with Homebrew, by downloading a signed and notarized .dmg from Releases, or by building it from source. A command-line tool, puremac, offers a keyboard-driven workspace and supports dry runs with --dry-run and JSON output with --json. Because the code is MIT-licensed, users can read the code that decides what gets removed in PureMac/Services and PureMac/Logic/Scanning.
