Quick Note Taking – Type

About

Type lets you quickly capture timestamped notes from anywhere on your Mac. Press a hotkey, type your thought, hit Enter, and get back to what you were doing. Notes are saved as plain text files on your Mac, offline and without lock-in, and every note is timestamped automatically. You can choose the date format, note prefixes such as bullets or checkboxes, and where notes land in the file.

Type is also built for Obsidian users, adding timestamped notes directly into your vault as a quick capture tool. It supports Markdown and includes options such as always-on-top, inserting under a headline, copying note content, and keyboard shortcuts.

Type offers a 7-day free trial for macOS 13.0+ on Intel and Apple Silicon. The Personal License is a one-time payment with no subscription, covering use on all your devices and all future features and releases.
