About
Renamer is a batch file renamer for macOS that can rename thousands of files at once. You can save any setup as a reusable workflow, which Renamer calls a Renamerlet, and get started quickly with dozens of built-in workflows for common tasks. For complex jobs, you can assemble Chains.
Renamer offers a live preview of how files will be renamed, so you can fine-tune your rules and catch errors before they apply. Available rename options include numbering files sequentially or randomly, find and replace, changing case, organizing songs by album, title, and artist (ID3 support), adding date and time or EXIF and GPS photo tags (EXIF support), inserting image width and height, using regular expressions, adding folder names, inserting, overwriting, or removing text at character positions, changing or removing file extensions, and renaming files from a CSV file.
If you're not sure how to start, AI Assist can generate rename rules, and it processes them locally on your computer. Smart Undo and file backup help you avoid losing data. Renamer runs on macOS 15 (Sequoia) and later, including Tahoe, and is also available for Windows 10 and later.
