About
RepoBar is a free, open-source native macOS app that keeps GitHub work visible from your menu bar. For every repository you care about, it shows CI state, issues, pull requests, releases, local checkouts, and rate limits in one dropdown, one click from the clock. It also includes contribution graphs, per-repo commit heatmaps, and inline previews of a local CHANGELOG.md.
RepoBar pairs remote state with local state. It scans a projects folder such as ~/Projects and matches local checkouts to GitHub, showing the current branch and upstream, ahead/behind counts, dirty file summaries, and worktrees next to the remote view. It supports GitHub.com and GitHub Enterprise side by side, and it can read GitHub backups in the Git-backed snapshot format published by gitcrawl.sh. When GitHub is rate-limited or offline, issue and PR lists fall back to the imported archive.
RepoBar also ships a repobar CLI that uses the same auth, cache, and archive paths, with --json and --plain output options for scripts and terminal use. The app runs on macOS 15 or later, on Apple Silicon and Intel, and is MIT licensed with no telemetry. It can be installed with Homebrew (brew install --cask repobar) or downloaded as a signed and notarised .dmg.
