Rocket Typist is a Mac, iPhone, and iPad app for saving time on repetitive typing. Its Snippet Editor serves as a central hub where you can create and edit snippets, organize them in folders, and quickly search, preview, and insert them. Snippets can be plain text, formatted text, images, or JavaScript, and you can define your own abbreviations so that Rocket Typist automatically replaces them with the full snippet when you type them in other apps. You can also open the Snippet menu from the menu bar or with a keyboard shortcut.

Snippets can be adapted each time you use them with macros. Date and time macros insert the current date or a past or future date, text field macros prompt you for input, option macros offer predefined choices, clipboard macros insert what you have copied, and snippet macros nest one snippet inside another. On the Mac, selection, cursor, and key macros add further options. Smart Snippets combine AI prompts with macros to generate context-specific text using Apple Intelligence or OpenAI. In version 3.4, you can also share a snippet folder with your team via iCloud so everyone uses the same wording, with changes syncing across the folder. Folder sharing requires Pro and iCloud.

The app is suited to uses such as recurring customer replies, customer support responses, email signatures, standardized boilerplate text for legal documents or reports, and HTML or CSS snippets for web developers. It can also proofread or summarize selected text and generate alternative versions with AI.
