About
RocketSim for Xcode Simulator is a Mac app that adds developer tools to Xcode's Simulator, letting you and your AI coding agent inspect, test, and capture your iOS app without leaving your workflow. It works with Xcode 16+ and Xcode 27's Device Hub, and is free to download with no signup required.
The app covers several areas: agentic coding, where an AI agent can read the Simulator screen as text, tap, swipe, and type through a built-in CLI, and share a live browser preview; screenshots and videos, with device bezels, touch indicators, and a built-in Post Editor for sharing captures; network monitoring, which shows URLSession requests, responses, headers, and logs without a proxy or certificates and allows throttling or airplane mode; real-world testing, for sending push notifications, opening deep links, simulating location routes, and managing permissions; and design and accessibility tools. A Teams plan adds shared licenses and Team Build Insights, with a 14-day trial.
What's new
All release notesNew: - CLI: rocketsim screenshot and rocketsim video record accept the mesh gradients from the background picker, for example --background aurora-drift, pastel-foam, lava-bloom, or indigo-nightfall. An unknown name lists the valid ones. - CLI: --metadata now renders the app icon, title, and subtitle badge, like the Post Editor does, from the most recent build on the Simulator. Use --metadata-title, --metadata-subtitle (an empty value hides the subtitle), and --metadata-app bundle-id to override the text or pick another installed app. The badge needs --ratio other than auto; RocketSim now says so, or that no app could be found, instead of leaving the badge out. - Captures: customize screenshot and recording file names with pills for capture type, device, app name, inches, and date, in Settings > Captures. (Thanks, K. Strasser!) Improved: - Onboarding: a refreshed first-run flow with an optional email step on Welcome, a short demo of the RocketSim CLI and Agent Skill, and a guided CLI and Agent Skill install step that only continues once an Agent Skill is installed. Onboarding no longer ends on an empty window after a permission or install step. - iPhone Duo: screenshots and recordings now show the device from straight on, like the Simulator and Device Hub, instead of from a slight angle. The fold still follows the hinge angle, from closed through book to open. Fixed: - Improved reliability of Developer folder access: Macs that can't remember the permission no longer show the permission screen at every launch (you can still grant it from Recent Builds), and diagnostics reports now explain why the permission couldn't be saved. (This is for you, J. Sabater!) - CLI: on iPhone Duo, taps, swipes, scrolls, and interact activate now reach the screen that is showing the app in the open and book poses, instead of silently doing nothing. Element positions and canvasSize match that screen's orientation, so toolbar items on the right are no longer hidden, and coordinates outside the screen now return a clear error.
