SC Menu is a lightweight Mac menu application for viewing PIV-based smartcards. Its menu item shows a green smartcard icon when a card is inserted and a blank smartcard icon when no card is inserted. You can also use it to view the certificates on the smartcard.
SC Menu can be registered to load at login using the --register option, which adds it to Login Items, and unregistered with --unregister, which removes it. It also includes options to check for updates and to disallow users from being prompted to update.
Administrators can configure SC Menu with a Configuration Profile deployed through an MDM, using the com.ttinc.sc-menu domain. Available settings include disabling updates, controlling notifications, running a script on smartcard insertion or removal, and setting how many days before certificate expiration to send notifications (the default is 30 days).
