About
Veil is a Mac screen sharing privacy app that blurs or dims background windows while keeping your active app clear. You can turn it on from the menu bar or with a quick left-right mouse shake before a meeting, demo, or recording. It works with Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams, and runs locally on your Mac as a signed and notarized app with no cloud dependency.
Veil can blur background content on each connected display, using either per-screen focus or a single global focus target. As you switch apps, the active window stays clear while sensitive background content is blurred. Veil is offered with a free 3-day trial and a one-time $7.90 lifetime license for one Mac, with no subscription.
Veil does not hide macOS notifications, so the website suggests using macOS Focus or Do Not Disturb during calls for that purpose. Veil also does not auto-detect meetings, so it must be toggled on manually.
