Scroll Reverser is a free, open source Mac app that lets you set the scrolling direction independently for each trackpad and mouse. Devices appear in Settings › Scrolling the first time you use them, and each can be set to "natural" or "classic" scrolling. By default, trackpads use natural scrolling and mice use classic scrolling for vertical movement, while horizontal scrolling is left unchanged for all devices.

For wheel mouse users, the app includes a step size control that scrolls a fixed amount with each wheel click, instead of macOS default scroll acceleration. Scroll Reverser also supports scrolling from apps and unidentified sources, offering "Reversed" and "Unchanged" options, and it can be turned on or off via AppleScript. It does not reverse swipe gestures, and it does not work in iPhone Mirroring or Calendar. The app requires macOS 13.5 or later and runs on Intel and Apple silicon.
