About
ScummVM lets you play certain classic graphical adventure and role-playing games on systems they were never designed for, provided you already have the games' data files. It works by replacing the executables shipped with the games. ScummVM is a complete rewrite of those executables and is not an emulator.
The project supports an extensive library of over 325 adventure games from studios such as LucasArts, Sierra On-Line, Revolution Software, Cyan, Inc., and Westwood Studios. Supported titles include the Monkey Island series, Broken Sword, Myst, and Blade Runner, along with many lesser-known adventures. A compatibility page lists each supported game and how well it runs. Besides macOS, ScummVM runs on systems including Windows, Linux, iOS, Android, and others.
ScummVM is continually improving, and its developers invite comments and suggestions through a forum and Discord server. Users are asked to read the FAQ before posting. The project accepts donations via PayPal, though the team states that code contributions are valued considerably more.
