About
Sencha Cmd is a productivity and performance tool for building applications with Sencha Ext JS. It provides lifecycle tools such as scaffolding, code minification, and production builds, and automates development tasks through extensive command-line options, from code generation to native packaging. It can be used standalone or integrated with Ant and enterprise build environments.
The tool supports Progressive Web Apps: setting the "progressive" config gives an app simplified installation, home screen access, and service worker-based caching for offline use. Its code generation feature scaffolds entire applications and adds new MVC or MVVM components, and it includes a lightweight local server and logging for troubleshooting. Workspace and package management let teams share framework code, packages, and custom code across applications, with packages available from the Sencha Repository or the community, and dynamic loading for large apps.
For optimization, Sencha Cmd includes a framework-aware JavaScript compiler that produces minimal builds to reduce load time, along with image spriting for legacy compatibility and ES6 transpilation for broader browser support. Native packaging through PhoneGap/Cordova lets developers build app store distributions for multiple platforms with a single command.
