About
Set The Vibe is a live wallpaper app for Mac. It offers 42 living scenes drawn live on the GPU in 48 palettes, plus nine Living Stills, which are still pictures with a depth map so that near things move a little more than far ones. Move your pointer over a picture and its palette tints your widgets to match, and the app includes 14 widgets, such as a clock, calendar, weather, and moon, that take their colors from the scene behind them.
A vibe saves a scene, its palette, the widgets on your desktop, and, if you like, a soundscape together as one setting. Changing vibes changes everything at once in a slow cross-fade. Ambient sounds include rain, fire, and forest, among others. Folder icons can also be patterned or cut from any scene. You can switch vibes from the menu bar, with the keyboard shortcut ⌃⌥⌘→, or let a schedule change them at sunrise, sunset, or a set time.
Set The Vibe is free to download and requires macOS 14 or later, running on both Apple silicon and Intel Macs. The free version includes two starter vibes, while Pro allows as many vibes as you like.
