About
Shadow is a Mac app that gives you access to a full Windows PC in the cloud, streamed with low latency. According to the website, you can install games from platforms such as Steam, Epic, and Battle.net and play them on your Mac, with native performance and no emulation or virtualization. The site states that Shadow runs on Macs including MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and iMac, and also works on Apple TV, iPhone, and iPad.
The service is positioned as a subscription that combines cloud gaming with the freedom of a local PC. Shadow supports RTX and DLSS for high-resolution gaming, and the site notes that a stable connection of 10 Mb/s or more ensures a smooth experience. Because the Windows PC runs remotely, the site says there is no need for hardware upgrades or maintenance on your end.
The website also notes that some publishers restrict their games on virtual machines, and a few games with anti-cheat rules are not compatible. Shadow can be used from outside its supported countries, but quality of experience cannot be guaranteed there.
