About
Shapr3D is CAD software that aims to be approachable for beginners while offering the depth engineers need. It is available on Mac, iPad, and Windows, and the site notes that users can get to a first model in about 15 minutes. The Mac version requires macOS Sonoma (14.0) or later and is free to download.
The app combines direct and history-based modeling workflows and includes a minimalist, adaptive interface that surfaces tools as needed. Users can import and export native formats such as PRT, SLDPRT, and CATPART, as well as XT and STEP, to work alongside other CAD systems, simulation tools, and manufacturing processes. It is built on the Siemens Parasolid kernel and supports SpaceMouse, Wacom tablets, custom keybindings, and Apple Pencil.
Shapr3D also covers collaboration and visualization. Models, drawings, and visualizations can be shared through browser-based review links for viewing and commenting, and the site describes SOC2 Type II and ISO 27001-level security. Physically-based rendering allows models to be visualized with materials and lighting, with a single click switching between modeling and rendering modes.
