About
ShichiZip is a 7-Zip derivative intended for macOS. It rebuilds the 7-Zip File Manager experience natively for the Mac and supports everything upstream 7-Zip supports. Its one-click smart extraction automatically picks the best destination and strips duplicate top-level folders.
You can preview archives in Finder and preview files inside archives with Quick Look, without extracting them. The app also includes macOS-specific features, such as stripping resource forks and best-effort integration with Finder.
Release builds for both arm64 and x86_64 are available on the Releases page, in mainline and Zstandard fork variants. ShichiZip can also be installed through Homebrew Cask or MacPorts, though the MacPorts version is built from source separately and is not the same binary as the releases. It is licensed under LGPL-2.1.
