About
Shutter Encoder is a converter designed by video editors for converting, compressing, and editing video, and it also handles images and audio. It uses FFmpeg for encoding, supporting a wide range of codecs including editing codecs such as DNxHD, Apple ProRes, and GoPro CineForm, and output codecs such as H.264, H.265, and AV1. The app offers a large panel of encoding settings for users who want control, along with trimming and a "Cut without re-encoding" option for certain codecs, image adjustment and cropping tools, and options to burn in clip names, text, and timecode. It also supports embedding and burning in subtitles, adding image or video overlays, and includes a built-in subtitle editor, cut detection with .edl export, and video downloading from streaming sites.
For workflow and organization, Shutter Encoder includes a render queue, the ability to save and share settings as preset files, and a built-in FTP server option that can upload converted files automatically and send an email summary. Users can view detailed file information and customize output filenames with prefixes, suffixes, and index numbers. The app also lists AI tools such as audio separation, audio transcription, and background removal, along with DVD and Blu-ray burning and ripping and several analysis tools such as loudness measurement and VMAF.
