About
Skim is a PDF reader and note-taker for macOS (the site lists macOS 10.13 or higher). It is designed to help you read and annotate scientific papers in PDF, but it is also suited to viewing any PDF file. Its pitch is simple: stop printing and start skimming.
Skim's core features include viewing PDFs, adding and editing notes, and highlighting important text, including one-swipe highlight modes. You can make snapshots for easy reference and navigate using a table of contents or thumbnails, with a visual history. All your notes and highlights can be viewed together. For reading, Skim offers full-screen mode, a reading bar for focus, a magnification tool, and smart cropping tools. For presentations, it provides built-in transitions and a handy preview of internal links.
Skim also supports AppleScript, bookmarks, and saving passwords in Keychain, and it can export notes as text and automatically download remote PDFs. It supports Apple Remote Control and works with LaTeX, SyncTeX, and PDFSync, as well as BibDesk and other third-party applications. It includes Spotlight support and is highly customizable.
