About
Imaging Edge Desktop is a Mac app for shooting, viewing, and developing images from supported Sony cameras. Its Remote function offers tethered shooting using live view over a wired USB or LAN connection, or wirelessly over Wi-Fi. You can fine-tune composition with a grid, guide, and overlay, adjust focus with area specification focus and magnified display, and change Creative Look and white balance remotely, with changes reflected in live view. Composite RAW Shooting and Pixel Shift Multi Shooting are also supported on some cameras.
The Viewer function lets you browse and rate RAW and other images in thumbnail, preview, and comparison formats. Captured images appear automatically through Remote, and colour labels and ratings help you select images for RAW development. Ratings can be exported in XMP (Adobe compatible) format, and batch processing can output TIFF or JPEG files with adjustments from Edit applied.
The Edit function provides RAW development that works with your camera. You can change settings such as Creative Look, white balance, D-Range Optimizer, and lens correction after shooting, and adjust brightness, hue, and white balance. It also supports .ARQ files from Pixel Shift Multi Shooting and .AXR files from Composite RAW Shooting or Extended RAW Processing, and includes cropping and tilt correction that can be undone. Extended RAW Processing, which uses deep learning, is available on the α1 II, α9 III, α7R VI, and α7 V.
