SoundCraft is an open-source digital audio workstation (DAW) for recording, editing and mixing audio, built in pure Rust. It is described as a clean-room reimplementation of Avid Pro Tools. It runs natively on macOS, with signed universal builds, and also on Windows, Linux and FreeBSD, and in the browser.
The Edit window offers multitrack editing with Shuffle, Slip, Spot and Grid modes, playlists with comping lanes, and undo for all actions. The Mix window provides ten inserts and ten sends per track, busses, aux inputs, master faders, VCA masters and meters with peak hold. Breakpoint automation for volume, pan, mute, sends and plugin parameters can be written live in Write, Touch and Latch modes.
SoundCraft also includes instrument and MIDI tracks, a piano-roll editor, and Standard MIDI File import and export. It supports CLAP, VST3 and Audio Units plugins, and every action can be scripted from the command line or by an AI agent.
