Space Rabbit is a free, open-source Mac app that removes the animations when you switch macOS Spaces, so switching desktops is instant. It lives in your menu bar, where you can enable or disable it in a single click.
The site estimates that each desktop switch takes 0.8 seconds, so 10,000 switches a week adds up to about two hours lost. Space Rabbit's features include instant switching, auto-follow Cmd+Tab (which jumps to any app's space), and shortcut reading with no rebinding or configuration required. It works right when you open it and needs only a system permission, with no SIP changes.
Space Rabbit is a lightweight native app built with SwiftUI, using about 20MB of RAM, and it is listed for macOS on Apple Silicon. Its source code is public, so you can review it, fork it, and improve it.
